SAS vs SATA drives

SAS and SATA are two drive interfaces. SAS-3 runs at 12 Gbps with dual ports, full-duplex signaling, and better error handling for enterprise arrays; SATA III runs at 6 Gbps, single port, half-duplex, and costs less per gigabyte.

SATA drives use a single data path and are fine for bulk capacity, backups, and low-duty workloads. SAS drives add a second port for multipath redundancy, so a controller can reach the drive through two independent routes. SAS also supports longer cable runs, more devices per expander, and richer error reporting through the SCSI command set.

A practical rule: SATA connects to SAS controllers, but SAS drives do not connect to SATA-only ports. That backward compatibility lets one SAS backplane hold a mix of SAS and SATA drives, which many servers use to blend fast SAS or NVMe with cheap SATA capacity.

For a China purchase, decide by workload before the seller decides for you. Databases and 24/7 arrays justify SAS or NVMe; cold storage and media archives run fine on SATA. Check whether the RAID controller and expander support 12 Gbps SAS-3, since some budget refurb boxes ship with older 6 Gbps SAS-2 parts.

The company carries Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo ThinkSystem, Huawei and xFusion systems, alongside GPU and AI training servers, rack servers and enterprise storage. Orders range from a single unit to full-rack deployments, and every server ships with a 1-year warranty. Qingzhi sells on EXW Hangzhou terms. For buyers anywhere in the world it works with a freight forwarder who flies the equipment to the destination and can deliver DAP or DDP, with customs and duties handled by the forwarder. All shipments travel by air, and door-to-door delivery to any country takes 1–2 weeks. Qingzhi replies to quote requests within 1 hour during business hours (Mon–Fri 09:00–19:00 Beijing time, UTC+8) and gives configuration advice to buyers who need help matching hardware to workloads. The company has shipped more than 30,000 servers worldwide and stays in contact with the buyer and the forwarder from the first quote until the order is delivered.
