How to import servers to Ghana: G-CAP, taxes and delivery

Ghana is a growing West African hub, and the two things to line up are the G-CAP conformity certificate and your ICUMS filing. Here is the tax picture and the route from Hangzhou to Accra.

G-CAP, taxes and registration

Ghana runs a Conformity Assessment Programme (G-CAP) through the Ghana Standards Authority: regulated goods need a Certificate of Conformity issued before shipment by an appointed agent. Customs runs on the ICUMS single-window system, and an importer needs a Tax Identification Number.

On import you pay 15% VAT plus levies (NHIL, GETFund and others) and an import duty that depends on the classification, so the effective tax load is higher than the headline VAT. We prepare the documents the G-CAP inspection needs and coordinate with your clearing agent.

  • G-CAP Certificate of Conformity before shipment.
  • ICUMS single-window clearance; importer TIN required.
  • VAT 15% + NHIL/GETFund levies + import duty.

Delivery and clearance

We ship every server by air. Your forwarder flies the shipment to Ghana and delivers it to your site, and door-to-door delivery takes 1–2 weeks.

Clearance goes through Customs on ICUMS against the G-CAP certificate. Your forwarder or clearing agent files the declaration and settles VAT, levies and duty on DAP/DDP terms.

The import flow, step by step

We sell EXW Hangzhou. For first-time importers we help appoint a forwarder who arranges the G-CAP certificate, books the air freight, exports from China, clears customs, and delivers to Accra or Kumasi.

Because the certificate is issued before shipment, we prepare the documentation early. You see the landed cost, including VAT, levies and duty, before anything ships.

  • Send your spec. We reply within 1 hour during business hours (Mon–Fri 09:00–19:00 Beijing time, UTC+8) with an EXW Hangzhou quote.
  • We assemble, burn-in 24–72 h, and prepare documents for G-CAP.
  • Forwarder flies the shipment to Ghana, clears ICUMS, delivers DAP/DDP.
  • 1-year warranty with advance-replacement RMA.
