How to import servers to Nigeria: Form M, SONCAP and delivery
Nigeria has the paperwork, not the mystery. Get Form M, SONCAP and PAAR right and importing servers from China is routine. Here is what each document is for, the duty and VAT picture, and the route from Hangzhou to Lagos or Abuja.
The documents: Form M, SONCAP and PAAR
Three items do most of the work. Form M is a mandatory pre-import declaration filed through the Nigeria Single Window (via your bank) before the goods ship, and it also opens the foreign-exchange channel for payment. SONCAP is the conformity certificate from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria: the supplier obtains a Product Certificate, then a SONCAP Certificate is issued for the shipment. PAAR (Pre-Arrival Assessment Report) is issued by Customs against the Form M and used to compute duty.
None of this is exotic once you know the order: Form M and SONCAP before shipping, PAAR before arrival, then clearance. We provide the commercial documents a SONCAP agent needs, and your forwarder or clearing agent runs the filings.
- Form M: pre-import declaration + FX channel, filed before shipment.
- SONCAP: Product Certificate then Shipment Certificate for regulated goods.
- PAAR: Customs pre-arrival assessment for duty computation.
Duty, VAT and delivery
Server imports attract import duty plus 7.5% VAT and assorted levies. We ship every server by air: your forwarder flies the shipment to Nigeria and delivers it to your site, and door-to-door delivery takes 1–2 weeks.
A Nigerian importer needs a valid Form M and, for payment, an FX-cleared route through the bank that opened it. The forwarder or clearing agent files the declaration, presents SONCAP and PAAR, and settles duty and VAT on DAP/DDP terms.
The import flow, step by step
We sell EXW Hangzhou. For first-time importers we help appoint a forwarder and clearing agent who handle air freight, SONCAP, Form M/PAAR coordination, customs, and delivery to Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt.
We time the documents so SONCAP and Form M are in place before the goods ship, which is what keeps cargo moving through customs. You see the landed cost before anything leaves China.
